Closest to the ocean
I choose the condo based on location and proximity to the water. I’ve never stayed at a place directly on the water; it was nice. We watched humpbacks in the morning sometimes only a few hundred yards away or less. Beach to the north is perfect because it’s easy to avoid rocks and it’s a gentle decline into the water. We hung out at a resort down the road to the south and there was a steep drop 5-10 feet in and the undertow was way stronger. It’s a good spot on all levels – restaurants, beach, food truck park, golf, old town, Paia. The condo could use upgrades for sure, but we were fine with the old appliances and we prepared our own meals daily.

(403) was amazing
This was a retirement gift to myself, I recognized that a trip to Maui would be a well-deserved reward for all my years of working. I had many things on my bucket list so I wanted to venture off “on my own” which I’ve never done. It was all about me! Maui Kai (403) was amazing. I took advantage of beach and pool time for my R&R. Loved exploring Lahaina over all as some other shopping and beaches. Ziplining at the Tropical Plantation, excursion tour to Hana, Maui swap meet, botanical gardens, Alii Lavender (Kula), Kahului’s Farmer’s market, the Old Lahaina Luau and Slack Key guitar concert (Napili), and nicest thrill was to go on two whale watching trips thru the Pacific Whale Foundation. If you join you get a free trip. We saw so many whales breaching and flapping their tails, they also put on quite a show the following morning for #403 while I had my coffee on the balcony. The room was perfect, better than what was pictured online. Couldn’t get over listening to the waves all night and fabulous sunsets every night. Saw a few rainbows (nice) but overall the weather was perfect at 82 degrees. I’m dreading going back to that Midwest town. Loved Lahaina Grill, Mama’s House, Mala, Star Noodle and Mixed Plate. It was hard to say who had the best Mai Tai’s!
Thank you so much for allowing me to stay at the Maui Kai, this was an exciting trip I will treasure forever. I’ll be back!
The little Kei Ki’s do hula dances at the Lahaina Cannery Mall every Saturday and Sunday @ 1:00. They were so cute!
