When it comes to value rich vacation spots in Hawaii, our Kaanapali Beach resort Maui Kai can’t be beat. It’s located near sites that host an incredible array of affordable special events year round. With that said, here’s a look at several that are currently available during the autumn months:
Maui Friday Town Parties
If you are looking for a place to enjoy free entertainment and fellowship on a Friday night, you are in luck. There are various town parties that take place on select Fridays throughout the island. Lahaina, which is located near our Kaanapali Beach resort, hosts its special event the second Friday of every month. Similar events take place on the first, third and fourth Fridays at other locations. Those other locations include Kihei, Makawao and Wailuku.
Regardless of the location, the town parties typically take place outdoors from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. They also involve more than just live entertainment. For example, there are usually opportunities to talk with local crafters, sample Hawaiian cuisine, and take advantage of special sales at the local boutiques.
Hawaiian Music Series Thursdays
Of course Fridays are not the only days when visitors and locals alike may enjoy complimentary entertainment. Oftentimes, you’ll find special concerts taking place on the last Thursday of every month too. Many of the last Thursday musical events are sponsored by the Baldwin Home Museum and Lahaina Restoration Foundation. Those events tend to take place outside on the museum’s lawn from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. On some evenings, there are opportunities to pay a modest fee and enjoy candlelight tours of the museum as well. The museum was built in the 1800s. Before being converted into a museum, it was used as both a home and an educational institution. We should also mention that those who partake of the tours frequently get to enjoy free, onsite refreshments.
Ukulele Mele’s Second Saturdays
While we are on the subject of museums, there are special events that often take place on the second Saturday of the month in Wailuku too. The events are traditionally held at the Bailey House Museum. It’s a resplendent place that was once the home of Kahekili. He was one of the island’s ruling chiefs. The grounds also include a remarkable spirit stone. So be sure to check it out before or after the special event.
The special events held at the museum usually involve an accomplished ukulele artist by the name of Mele Fong. In the autumn, the special events are often held in September and October. Fong typically takes the month of November off and resumes her concert schedule in December. Our Kaanapali beach resort’s staff can help determine her upcoming concert dates should you be interested in attending.
