Every winter, guests staying in our Maui Condos have oceanfront views of the humpback whales’ return to Hawaii and 2015 will be no exception. If you’d like to experience it for yourself, consider visiting us in February when the Maui Whale Festival and Whales Tales events are scheduled to take place. Each one is a compilation of several events and they’re all easily accessible from our location on Ka’anapali Beach.
The festival normally kicks off first with a Run & Walk for the Whales event at Ma’alaea Harbor on January 31st. It’s a one-day affair that’s expected to begin at 6:30 a.m. sharp and the public is welcome to watch or run. The World Whale Day festivities are slated to follow on the 14th. There is also a Great Whale Count planned for the 21st.
As for this year’s Whales Tales program, it is due to run from the 13th through the 16th. The majority of the program’s activities are slated to take place at the Maui Theater in nearby Lahaina. However, there will be special events held at Lahaina Harbor and the Baldwin House too. They include opportunities to rub elbows with a wide variety of marine experts and go on an annual whale watching excursion.
In addition to those two series of events, there are other places that we’d recommend adding to your stay as well. For example, there is a Whaler’s Village Museum and Maui Ocean Center located on the island that our guests typically love to visit. They are both great venues to go and learn more about Hawaii’s marine life and whaling history. On top of that, there are places near the condos where you can buy whale related souvenirs too.
To learn more about all of those places and make plans to celebrate one of nature’s gentle giants, please contact us today. If you act fast, we’ll be able to offer you an oceanfront room with all of the amenities a whale watcher could ever hope for during a Ka’anapali Beach vacation.
